NYSC commissions 13 operational vehicles for corps welfare

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commissioned 13 new operational vehicles for corps welfare and inspection at various corps locations.
Commissioning the vehicles yesterday at the scheme’s headquarters, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Bar. Solomon Dalung, said the availability of operational vehicles would go a long way to ameliorate the sufferings of corps members and the NYSC staff.

He said the government was aware of the numerous challenges facing the scheme and gave assurance that government would continue to address the needs of the scheme for the betterment of the welfare of the corps members and staff.
He added that efforts were being made to increase funding on youth in order to tap the abundant talents needed for the much desired change that promises to put the country on the pedestal of steady growth.

Olawumi said the vehicles consisted of seven ambulances and six Hilux pickup, would be dispatched to states to commence usage mainly for corps welfare and inspection urging the benefiting states to take better care and increase monitoring of corps members activities, to ensure that they put in their best more than even before.
Olawumi further called on the state governors to fulfill their statutory responsibility to the scheme in their states according to the constitution while warning the benefiting states to take proper care and adequate maintenance of the vehicles for the purpose of optimum performance and functionality.
