Imo state Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports, Engr. Chidi Ibe, has described last week’s Performance Award bestowed on the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Chief Uche Nwosu (Ugwumba) by members of a panel that assessed commissioners in the state, as a well deserved one.

He said Nwosu distinguished himself during his presentation more than the rest of them, having coordinated most of the things that government had done in the last five years.
Commenting on the insinuation that he should not have taken part since he is not one of the commissioners, Ibe said Nwosu was saddled with the task of Special Duties which automatically made him a commissioner and that he performed creditably on that aspect, adding that he himself was not disturbed that he did not win it or even made the first three positions on the award list.

Nwosu proved bookmakers right by bagging the first ever Best Performer Award instituted by Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to encourage and instill the spirit of hard work in members of his Rescue Mission team as government thrives to make the state better.
Few hours before the presentation of scorecard, there were discussions among stakeholders like journalists, members of different political parties, women groups, youths etc on who was qualified to carry the day and an overwhelming majority gave it Nwosu.

The press friendly youthful son-in-law to the governor has proved to be the bridge between the governor and members of the public and these cut across party lines.
“Signs of Uche’s political prowess showed while he was Commissioner of Lands and Survey, especially among his staff where he encouraged them by instituting different awards one of which made the lucky ones to go home with cars, refrigerators, electronics and bags of rice.
“His hard work as Deputy Chief of Staff and currently Chief of Staff led to a remarkable turnaround of Government House environment as many state-of-the art structures now grace the landscape”, he said.
