NUC approves 12 new programmes for Summit varsity

The National University Commission (NUC) has approved 12 new academic programmes for Summit University, Offa, Kwara state, following a successful resource verification exercise by the Commission. 

Summit University is owned and managed by Ansar-ud-Deen Society. 

A statement signed by the publicity secretary, Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Northern States Council, Alhaji AbdulGafar Lawal, in Kaduna indicated that the programmes included eight undergraduate courses in the College of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Engineering and College of Innovation and Computing Technology, while the four postgraduate courses are PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Mass Communication. 

“The Ansar-ud-Deen Society Northern States Council is pleased to inform members that our own Summit University, Offa, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 12 new academic programmes, following a successful resource verification exercise conducted between March 6 and March 12, 2024.

“The newly approved programmes include eight undergraduate courses and four postgraduate courses. The approved new undergraduate programmes in the College of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Engineering are: Mechatronics, Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, while those to be domiciled in the College of Innovation and Computing Technology are: Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and Information Technology. 

“For postgraduate studies, the NUC has approved programmes in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Mass Communication at the PGD, M.Sc., and Ph.D. levels.

“The Northern States Council wishes to congratulate the management of the Summit University. The Council also expresses her profound gratitude to the staff of the University for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout the planning and execution of this initiative. The Council also appreciates all members and well wishes who have in one way or the other supported this laudable achievement. May Allah reward us all accordingly,” the statement read.
