NSC launches online portal for registration of port service providers

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC)  Tuesday introduced a new online platform for the registration of regulated port service providers and users, as part of efforts to promote efficiency, transparency, and compliance in the maritime sector.

The portal, which was unveiled during a stakeholders’ sensitisation forum in Kaduna, Tuesday, will allow users to complete the entire registration process virtually, without the need to visit any of the council’s offices.

Speaking at the event, the executive secretary/chief executive officer of the council, Pius Akutah, said the move is a milestone in the council’s digital transformation agenda.

“This sensitisation programme on the online portal for the Registration of Regulated Port Service Providers and Users is a critical part of our mandate,” he said.

Represented by the deputy director, Stakeholders Engagement, Mrs Adaba Hannah,  he said “as the Port Economic Regulator, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council remains committed to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and compliance in the port and shipping sector. The launch of this registration portal is a bold step towards achieving that goal.”

He noted that the online registration is backed by Part II, Section 4(1) of the Port Economic Regulation 2015, which makes the registration mandatory for all regulated entities in the sector.
