NPFL champions Remo Stars dominate CHAN Eagles final squad

There are nine players from NPFL champions Remo Stars on the final CHAN Eagles squad to this year’s CHAN to be staged in East Africa.

The Remo Stars players are captain Junior Nduka, Sikiru Alimi, Sodiq Ismaila, Adebayo Olamilekan, Hadi Haruna, Akanni Qudus, Michael Tochukwu, Alex Oyowah and Jabar Malik.

Runners-up in the NPFL last season Rivers United have three players.

Also on the 23-man squad is the NPFL Goal King Anas Yusuf from Nasarawa United.

The Nigeria Football Federation have arranged a second-phase training camp for the team in Zanzibar, from 25th – 31st July, before the 2018 silver medalists will move into official accommodation on the island.

‎The NFF have also firmed up arrangements for two friendly matches against Zanzibar, first on Monday, 28th July and then on Thursday, 31st July.

‎Nigeria, also bronze medalists in 2014, are drawn in Group D of the 19-team tournament, alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan and Congo.

They will play their first two matches of the competition against Senegal and Sudan at the Amman Stadium on the island of Zanzibar, before taking on Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
