North-east youths hail troops fighting spirit against terrorists, urges citizen support

A non-partisan advocacy organization, the North-East Youth Renaissance Group, (NYRG) has appealed to Nigerians to support armed forces of Nigeria, saying with determination, the military will decimate all terrorists attacking communities in the region and other parts of the country.

The group said although the security situation in the region is fluid with many said tales, it however, said with the support of the people it can be reduced to the nearest minimum.

,NYRG stated this in a statement Wednesday signed Secretary, Bello Alhaji following a failed attack on New Marte and the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe in Borno state by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province, (ISWAP).

The failed tuesday night attack left ISWAP fighters with at least 15 dead.

Blueprint report that troops also repelled a daring attempt by terrorists to attack the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe.

NYRG commended the collaborative effort of  among members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, adding that their willingness to fight will bring lasting peace to the region.

He said that the AFN under the Chief of Defence, Gen. Chris Musa has shown capacity to not only defend the country, but take the battle to terrorists.

“NYRG commends what has happened in Marte and Kumshe. It confirms our trust in the ability of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence, Gen. Chris Musa to defend our country.

“The renewed jointness and team spirit in the fight against terrorism will ultimately bring lasting peace to enable socio-economic activities thrive in the North East region.

“Our role as residents of the North-East is to continue to pray for and support our troops as they seek to turn around the unenviable situation and sad tales our region finds itself now,” NYRG added.
