NOC, RCCG to host 11th Olympic sports administration course in Nigeria

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), is set to host the 11th edition of the Olympic Solidarity/NOC Sports Administration Course (SAC) from July 21 to 25, 2025, at the RCCG Sports Complex in Mowe, Ogun state.

This was announced in a statement released Friday by the NOC Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya.

“The week-long course is part of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) global educational initiative, designed to enhance sports governance, build structured sports development pathways, and foster youth engagement through sport. It is specifically tailored for RCCG sports directors, youth coordinators, and sports administrators across Nigeria,” the statement said.

According to the statement, “the course is also open to sports officers, officials of the NOC and National Federations (NFs), club managers, physical education teachers, sports journalists, and others involved in sports promotion and management. It will follow the IOC’s official curriculum and will be conducted both onsite and virtually to enable wider participation.

“Facilitation will be led by IOC-certified directors including Dr (Mrs) Esther Oluwatoyin Aluko, Mr Emmanuel Nweri, and Project Officer Deborah Ijeoma Chidobi. They will be joined by a high-profile faculty comprising: Prof. Clement Fasan, Director, IOC Advanced Sports Management Course, Dr. Akin Amao, former Chairman, NOC Medical & Scientific Commission, Prof. Dominic Leah Funmilayo, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abiodun Morofolu, Lagos State University, Mr. Kweku Tandoh, former Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oyebode Oluseyi, CEO, Dynaspro Sports Academy, Dr. Rasheed Oyhikire, Deputy Dean, Afuze College of Education, Mr. George Ashiru, IOC ASMC alumnus.”

In a related development, the NOC also announced that the 4th edition of the Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC) will take place from July 28 to August 1, 2025, at the Lagos State University (LASU) Advanced Resources and Conference Centre, Ojo.

“Participants will present case studies on finance and marketing management, while concluding with the final Olympic Solidarity module on Event Management. The session will be held in a hybrid format to accommodate both in-person and online attendees.

“The ASMC will be anchored by IOC-approved Programme Directors and supported by Project Officer Chidobi Deborah. Notably, Oyebode Oluseyi, a respected sports administrator and ASMC alumnus, will deliver the lead presentation on event management.

“The course will be formally opened by NOC Secretary-General, Tunde Popoola, on behalf of President Gumel,” the NOC statement said.
