Governor Seyi Makinde Monday stated that he has no regret for ensuring due process during the selection of the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade.
The governor who said this when Oba Owoade paid him a courtesy visit at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan stated that he was glad that he ensured due process during the selection of the new Alaafin of Oyo.
Governor Makinde pointed out that he ensured neutrality throughout the process of selection of the new Alaafin in order to prevent bias and ensure a fair and unbiased resolution.
Stating that the concept of an impartial decision-maker is integral to fostering public confidence, the governor assured the new Alaafin of his determination to ensure a befitting renovation and reconstruction of the palace.
The Alaafin of Oyo stated that Governor Makinde is passionate about the cause of emancipation of his people and lauded him for his steadfastness and sense of commitment to the well-being of the people of the Pace setter state.
Extolling the virtues of the governor, the Alaafin said he is “a man with an objective bent of mind, who is extremely curious and always on the quest for truth” and remained faithful to personal principles.
He said the governor is “ever ready to succumb to superior argument if logic and evidence are compelling enough.”
The Alaafin assured the governor that he would not relent in building trust among the people by showing authentic concern for their well-being and by acknowledging their strengths, challenges, and aspirations.
He stated further that, “I will not only ensure open and transparent communication, but prioritise clear, honest, and consistent communication with the people. This open communication will further cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and trust within the people”, he said.
Oba Owoade added, “When leaders genuinely care about their people, they create an environment where trust can flourish, leading to stronger relationships, improved performance, and long-term success.”
Calling for the installation of CCTV cameras between Oyo and Fiditi Town, Oba Owoade said CCTV cameras had been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi.
