No need to go on strike now- says TUC

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Monday said as of today, there is no need for a nationwide strike over the removal of subsidy by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government.

Though they warned against a situation where TUC, its affiliates and allies would be compelled to confront the government, adding that government must do the needful.

A communique issued at the end of National Executive Council (NEC) meeting , the congress said government must intensify discussions with labour on parliatives and alternative

The communique which was jointly signed by President Festus Osifo and General Secretary Comrade Nuhu Toro reads “That the Federal Government must intensify discussions with the Labour unions on palliatives and alternatives as earlier promised.

“To increase the amount provided for palliatives as 5billion given to each state is grossly inadequate.

That federal government should deploy high powered monitoring team to ensure that the palliatives get to the right people.

“That President Tinubu should within the next one week make a categorical statement on Wage Award, tax exemptions and allowances to public sector workers, to cushion the pains and anguish they are going through.”
