The Management of The Federal Polytechnic, Offa has officially dismissed recent reports suggesting a looming industrial unrest at the institution following a Governing Council committee meeting held in Lagos.

In a statement addressing a viral report on a potential industrial unrest, the Polytechnic’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Iroye, described the claims as misleading and warned that such misinformation could create unnecessary tension within the community.

Contrary to the media report, the Management affirmed that the campus environment remains peaceful and conducive for both academic and administrative activities, with staff and students continuing their duties without disruption.

The statement clarified that the meeting in question was not a full Governing Council session but a committee meeting, which can lawfully be held outside the Polytechnic premises under certain circumstances. The choice of Lagos as the venue was made due to the Chairman of the Governing Council’s health challenges, making travel to Offa impractical. Additionally, logistical and cost considerations, especially for members traveling from the North-West, made Lagos a more convenient location.

Management further noted that holding Council meetings outside the Polytechnic is not unprecedented and is permitted under the Polytechnic law. Importantly, the location does not affect the integrity or validity of the Council’s decisions, which are made with due process and the institution’s best interests at heart.

The Management also expressed disappointment that union concerns were not addressed through internal dialogue channels and urged media outlets to verify facts before publication to avoid fueling unnecessary discord.

Similarly, the Polytechnic reiterated its commitment to industrial harmony, transparency, and institutional development, appealing to all stakeholders to support peace and progress within The Federal Polytechnic, Offa.
