The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) have reaffirmed their commitment to capacity development in Nigeria’s aviation sector through a strategic institutional partnership with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.
A high-level working visit was undertaken by NLNG and NCDMB officials to NCAT at the weekend following an earlier needs assessment visit in August 2024.
Rector of NCAT Dr. Danjuma Adamu Ismaila, noted that the partnership aims to support infrastructure development and equipment upgrades at NCAT to improve the quality and global competitiveness of aviation training in Nigeria.
“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in aligning Nigeria’s oil and gas sector with aviation capacity building, underscoring the role of industry in strengthening vital institutions for national development.” He told journalists.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision to equip NCAT with the modern tools and infrastructure needed to train the next generation of aviation professionals,” said a joint statement by NLNG and NCDMB representatives during the visit.
They affirmed that in a highly regulated sector like aviation, training institutions must keep pace with global standards, adding that the intervention by NLNG and NCDMB will significantly enhance NCAT’s capacity to deliver world-class training to professionals including pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, and aviation safety experts.
“Our commitment to NCAT is part of a broader goal of developing sustainable talent pipelines in critical sectors. Aviation is key to Nigeria’s growth and regional connectivity, and we are proud to support its institutional strengthening,”
The initiative is also in line with NCDMB’s mandate to foster local content development and bridge critical infrastructure gaps that hinder human capital growth in Nigeria.
The NCAT partnership represents a strategic model for how Nigeria’s private and public sectors can collaborate to achieve meaningful outcomes in education, technical training, and national development.
