The Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) on Thursday has renovated and equipped neonatal ward and intensive care unit at the Federal Medical Center in Asaba, Delta state.
This gesture is part of the company’s Hospital Support Programme, aimed at upgrading medical facilities for quality service delivery.
The Managing Director of NLNG, Dr Philip Mshelbila at the commissioning ceremony at FMC, Asaba, emphasized the impact of the donation on saving lives, particularly vulnerable newborns and critically ill infants.
The upgraded facilities mark a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to fostering improved healthcare outcomes.
The NLNG MD, represented by the General Manager, External Services, Dr Sophia Horsfall said HSP is NLNG’s strategic response to the urgent need for stronger upgrade of medical facilities for quality service delivery during the COVID-19 crisis.
According to him, “As a Medical Doctor, I understand the impact that the newly renovated and equipped neonatal ward and intensive care unit will have in saving lives, especially the most vulnerable newborns and critically ill infants.
“Today’s commissioning of these upgraded facilities affirms the transformative impact of the NLNG- sponsored Hospital Support Programme (HSP). It marks a decisive step forward in our commitment towards fostering a healthcare system that works.
“With these enhancements, the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba is now better positioned to deliver care with improved tools, quicker response times, and better outcomes for our youngest and most fragile patients”
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr rasak Salako described the facility as another milestone in the quest to provide quality healthcare services in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Health Minister of State represented by the Director, Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Jimoh Salaudeen said that the support of the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas to donate the magnificent neonatal wards and intensive care unit was key to achieving reduction in infant mortality.
The Chief Medical Director, FMC, Dr Victor Osiatuma who commended the NLNG for its transparency and openness during the project, said that the place was rebuilt, equipped and equipped with oxygen to ensure oxygen is delivered to every babies whether in the cot or in incubator.
