NILOWV FCT gets new executive

League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV), FCT Chapter, has elected new leaders to steer the affairs of the association at an Extraordinary Congress chaired by NILOWV, National Chairperson, Hon.Irene Awunal-Ikyesh.

A press statement by NILOWV FCT Publicity Secretary, Rachel Ayeni, said while addressing members during congress at NILOWV national secretariat in Sunshine Homes Estates, Lokogoma District, Abuja on Saturday, Hon. Awuna-Ikyesh said the congress was aimed at fostering the reawakening of the FCT chapter.
The president, who welcomed members to the congress, intimated them on the vision, mission and the objectives of the organisation.
She also elaborated on the importance of being members of the NILOWV and elaborated on the role of every member towards achieving the goal of the organisation.
The national president informed the house of the importance of registration, and what it entails to be a registered member.
She noted that the extral ordinary congress also afford active members opportunity to nominate candidates for the various elective positions to run the affairs of the chapter.
Also speaking, the immediate past Chairperson, NILOWV FCT, Chief Marie Enegwea, welcomed members to the congress and expressed optimism that the new executive to be elected at the congress would leverage on the already established relationships in the FCT and make positive impact for the advacement of the chapter.
After deliberations and the dissolution of the old executive, a motion was moved by Lucy Nwajideobi for new members to be nominated candidates for election into the various positions, just as the.motion was seconded by Rachel Ayeni. Elections was conducted by a four-women electoral body, and the following members emerged as the new exco of NILOWV FCT Chapter: Cesnabmihilo Dorothy, chairperson; Ogbonna Nnenna Sandra, vice chairperson; Ogonnnaya Chima, secretary;
Rachel Anyanwu, assistant secretary; and Rachel Ayeni, publicity secretary.
Other are: Ene Audu, programmes manager, Lucy Nwajideobi, organising secretary;
Princess Mimi Peters, Youth chairperson; and Chizoba Ogbeche, ex-officio
The swearing in of the newly elected executive was conducted after a successful election by Barr. Member Aduguve.
In an acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected executive, NILOWV FCT Chairperson, Mrs Cesnabmihilo Dorothy, assured the members of the chapter that the executive would deliver on the mandate bestowed on her and her team.
