Greek giants Panathinaikos have officially announced the signing of Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers from Scottish Premiership side Rangers on a permanent transfer.

The 30-year-old forward joins the 20-time Greek champions for an undisclosed fee and will wear the number 33 jersey. Dessers is expected to replace Fotis Ioannidis, who recently secured a move to Sporting Lisbon.

Dessers arrived at Rangers in the summer of 2023 and enjoyed a prolific spell at Ibrox, scoring 52 goals in over 100 appearances. During his time in Glasgow, he won the League Cup, finished as the SPFL Premiership’s top scorer, and claimed the Sam English Bowl award.

Before moving to Scotland, the Nigerian international had a stint in Serie A with Cremonese, where he netted seven goals and provided two assists in 29 matches.

He also made a mark in the Belgian Pro League with Genk, recording 11 goals and six assists across 43 games.

Dessers previously shone on loan at Feyenoord, scoring 20 goals in the 2021–22 season, and also had spells with Heracles, FC Utrecht, and NAC Breda in the Netherlands, where he produced outstanding goal-scoring returns.
