The newly appointed Secretary to the Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) Hauwa Kulu Isah, has implored judicial staff and magistrates to eschew corruption in all ramifications while dispensing justice.
Isah stated this Wednesday in an interactive session with journalists in Minna warning that those found lacking would be dealt with decisively.
She said, “All hands must be on deck towards wiping out corruption in the Niger state judiciary as initiated by the Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik. We should also uphold the rule of law. Any staff found lacking will be dealt with decisively.”
The NJSC scribe stated that the zero tolerance for corruption in the state judiciary has been clearly demonstrated in the recent punishment and sanctions against some erring magistrates by the commission
She said: “Examples have been set in recent times, you are all aware of how the commission handled cases against some magistrates decisively recently. In fact, there is no sacred cow in the state judiciary now.”
She stated that it has become imperative for all staff to support and cooperate with the chief judge to revamp the image of the state judiciary knowing well that there is focus on eradication of corruption within the system.
“The chief judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, is interested in transforming the state judiciary and this we all know. As her supporting staff, I will do all that is required to ensure that she succeed,” the NJSC scribe promised.
A brief profile of the new NJSC secretary, Hauwa Kulu Isah, showed that she joined the state judiciary as an associate magistrate in 1999, climbing up to become the chief magistrate in 2019. She has also served as director probate and other various capacities within the state judiciary.
