The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a series of significant nationwide interdiction operations, leading to the high-profile arrests of a Chinese businessman and an 80-year-old grandmother.

The operations also resulted in the seizure of substantial drug consignments, including Colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain ingeniously hidden in moi-moi sachets, and Canadian Loud, another potent cannabis strain, concealed within imported canned food items.
NDLEA’s director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed weekend that Liang Tak You, a Chinese businessman, was arrested by NDLEA operatives at the arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday.
Babafemi stated: “Based on intelligence, the suspect, who arrived Nigeria from Bangkok via Dubai, UAE, on Emirates Airline flight, is a Chinese national, naturalised and based in Malaysia, but flew to Thailand where he picked two suitcases filled with 50 parcels of Loud weighing 26.10kg before heading to Nigeria via UAE, operatives, who had been tracking his movement, allowed him through necessary protocols before apprehending him upon his exit from the airport.”
In a separate significant arrest, 80-year-old Mrs. Grace Ekpeme was taken into custody at Edet-Nsa Street, Base Site, Calabar South, Cross River state. She was found with over 3kg of skunk in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, following intelligence on her alleged drug dealing activities.
