Chairman, Leadership Group and APC presidential aspirant, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah, has promised to support the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiites, if it wished to take legal action against the Nigeria Army over the recent killing of members of the Movement and others last week in Zaria.
He made the pledge while fielding questions from journalists shortly after condoling with the leader of the Movement, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who lost three sons in the shooting.
The chairman explained that it was disheartening for 35 innocent Nigerians to be killed without anybody authoritatively talking about it, adding that none of the leaders in the country had shown concern.
“Now it is high time for the country to have good leaders from top to bottom, it is the duties of the leaders to see justice is done to every Nigerian,” he said.
Nda-Isaiah said he would do everything possible to support the Movement to fight the army to its logical conclusion.
Earlier, he had told the leaders he was at his place to condole with him and the family over the death of innocent individuals as well as his three sons.
The chairman hailed the leader’s style of leadership and for preaching peace to his followers.
In his remarks, Zakzaky thanked the chairman for his concern.
He alleged that the soldiers were drafted from Abuja “to come and kill them,” adding that event for which the people were killed had been the tradition of the Movement organised to solidarise with brothers in Palestine and that it was a procession.
The leader accused one Lt. Col. S. O. Okwu, the Commander, 11 Field Engineering, Basawa, Zaria, of killing his three sons.
