Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Have arrested 11 persons at various locations in the country over crude oil theft.
A statement by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Christian Odogwu Ezekobe said some of the arrested culprits have been handed over to relevant agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
He said equipment used for illegal oil refinery and pipeline vandalism was destroyed during the operation.
“The Nigerian Navy has sustained its dominance in the waterways with extensive patrols and increased surveillance activities were in line with the directives of Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas,” he said.
Commodore Ezekobe reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to ensuring security in the water ways and wipe out maritime criminals and operators of illegal refineries, in order to save national economic assets.
