Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state will, Friday, inaugurate a technical and advisory committee that will assist the state towards the actualisation of its oil and gas industry.
The governor made this known to members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) who were on a working visit to Government House, Thursday, in Lafia.
Sule said the committee would be chaired by an expert in oil and gas who has worked for Chevron in Houston, Texas, who flew into the country in order to be part of the inauguration.
“We are bringing in people who are from the industry who are assisting the state. We are not bringing in politicians. We are bringing people who are purely oil and gas industry experts who are going to guide us,” he said.
The governor said he is bringing his experience in the oil and gas sector to bear in making sure that the drilling operations in Obi is successful.
He said he has been closely monitoring the entire process starting from the seismic acquisition to the present ongoing drilling operations in order to see the oil and gas industry come to reality in the state.
“We have been constantly in touch with those acquiring the seismic. When the seismic was sent for processing, we followed. We were constantly following up to make sure the processing was done. After the processing, we followed up on the interpretation also,” he said.
