Nasaraww state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it is not in support of the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1, 2024.
State chairman of the party, Aliyu Bello, stated this at a press briefing in Tuesday, in Lafia.
He acknowledged the current economic challenges facing the nation, but pointed out that the planned nationwide protest is politically motivated in order to cause disaffection among the people.
He therefore, urged people of Nasarawa state to remain cautious and to avoid taking part in the protest which may lead to the breach of peace in the state and the country at large.
” We urged good people of Nasarawa state to avoid participating in the protest as it may lead to unintended consequences that could undermine the fragile unity and security of our dear nation.
“Let it be on notice that this protest is a politically motivated action by some enemies of state who do not mean well for the ordinary citizens except for their selfish political gains.
“They are out to cause disaffection among the citizens, sabotage the painstaking efforts of government by all means not minding the grave consequences on the fragile unity and security of our dear nation.
“Therefore, any attempt by the well meaning citizen of Nasarawa State to validate their ill motivated clamor by joining the protest, may cause further untold hardship in the land.
“We are also not unaware that the planned protest being organized by faceless individuals carries with it some ominous pretexts which is capable of snowballing into full scale crisis,” he said.
While calling for calm, he said pragmatic measures have been taken to improve the economy of the country and welfare of the people by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
