Namibia 2014: Falcons ready for Banyana -Okon declares

Super Falcons gaffer coach, Edwin Okon, has declared his team’s readiness to face perennial rivals, Banyana Banyana of South Africa in Wednesday semi-final of the ongoing Africa Women’s Championship(AWC) in Namibia.
Speaking after the Falcons watched South Africa maul Algeria 5-1 to setup the semi-final clash, Okon said his side was never worried about who they would face at the knockout stage but were focused on taking it one game at a time.
“We have watched the South Africans play and are ready to face them in the semi-finals. We were never worried about who we will face in the semis because my girls are focused and ready. They know the task at hand so we will approach the game with all sense of business” said Okon.
Similarly, team captain, Evelyn Nwabuoko has said that the team was out to avenge the semifinal defeat by South Africa in the last AWC in Equatorial Guinea.
“Our girls are all aware about what happened last we met and we will never allow that to happen when we meet them on Wednesday. We are focused and will go all out for victory” she enthused.
Meanwhile, the team did not train on Saturday as they were given the day off to relax and recover. Training resumes yesterday in preparation for the semi-final clash against Banyana Banyana.
Falcons will take on the South African on Wednesday by 5pm at the Sam Nujoma stadium for a place at the finals.
The semi final paring is repeat of 2012 African women Championship where Falcons lost to a Van Wyk goal in the 23rd minute.
