NAHCON’ll digitalise Nigeria hajj operations – Chairman

The chairman National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Haasan, Sunday, hinted that the commission is to completely digitalise all hajj operations in the country.

Alhaji Hassan dropped the hint in Ibadan while speaking with journalists at a special prayer organised for him by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN).

The NAHCON chairman stated that the board under his leadership is striving towards making hajj operation easier and affordable to the fateful, being one of the major Islamic obligations, saying the frequent increase in hajj fare would make it difficult for people to go for hajj as it would and result to inability of the commission to exhaust its quota allocated to Nigeria by Saudi authority.

Alhaji Hassan emphasised that the introduction of the hajj saving scheme would help to address the challenges and increase the number of people going for hajj exercise.

“The concept of hajj saving scheme is whereby the poor can save bit by bit between two and five years, until they are able to get to the amount required for hajj. The money is turned into investment through our partnership with Jaiz Bank and they are entitled to increase in their holdings in the bank through their profit,” he said.

The NAHCON chairman pointed out that on realising the fact that the time has come for the commission to devise a strategy to be able to meet up with its quota in the holy pilgrimage, NAHCON introduced Hajj Savings Scheme to make the pilgrimage easier for Nigerians.
