Operatives of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), a military onslaught against terror groups in the North-east, have killed a number of terrorists who were planning to attack ground troops in Rann, a border community in Borno state.
The Spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this Friday, adding that the terrorists’ assault on troops was averted through “coordinated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and air interdiction (AI) missions in the early hours of Friday.”
Air Commodore Ejodame said based on credible intelligence, the air component established contact with ground forces, identified clusters of fleeing insurgents, and engaged them with precision munitions, neutralising several in the process.
He said, “The swift and decisive action restored calm to the area, underscoring the NAF’s unwavering commitment to providing close air support, safeguarding troops, and rapidly neutralising insurgent threats.
“The latest feat came three days after the NAF launched a successful airstrike on a large gathering of armed bandits attending a wedding ceremony at Asaula Hills, in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state.
“The precision strike, carried out in the afternoon of Tuesday, August 5, was based on credible intelligence from local sources and Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operatives.”
