Strikes by air component of operation Hadarin Daji have neutralize over 40 terrorists in Malele village in Dansadau Local Government Area of Zamfara state, Blueprint reports.

According to a military source, terrorist activities in the area have over time been exacerbated by the lingering crisis between Hausas and Fulanis over devouring of farm produce thereby making the area very volatile especially in Malele, Maigoge, Yan Sawayu, Ruwan Tofa, Mai Awaki and Zama Lafiya, all under Mutunji district of Dansadau Emirate Council.

He said security agencies in particular the Military and the Air force has since Saturday 17 December, 2022, mobilised their troops and airplanes to launch attack and airstrikes against those waring bandits coming from different parts of the country.

According to him, “So far a large number of them have been neutralised and the battle is still on.”

He bandits who were fleeing from NAF airstrikes ran into a small village called Mutunji to take refuge. After ensuring that civilian lives in the village were not at risk, the NAF aircraft undertook a precision strike at the exact location.

“The intent of the strike was no doubt achieved as it neutralized over 40 of the terrorists who were holed up in a building in the village. Few civilians were however injured with no life-threatening injuries,” he said.

“I am aware that the injured civilians are currently receiving medical attention and treatment at Dansadau General Hospital.  I am very happy that though few villagers were killed, however, almost all the bandits pursued were summarily killed,” he added.

Efforts to reach NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, for comment proved abortive as he was said to be out of town on official assignment.
