N3.3trn fraud in MDAs: AUGF Ukura fingered as an accomplice

A group, under the auspices of “Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative”, has called for immediate suspension of the Auditor-General for the Federation (AuGF), Mr. Samuel Ukura, over non-remittance of N3.3tr by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) under Jonathan’s administration in 2014, saying Ukura is an accomplice.

The group in a statement signed by it National Coordinator, Mr Solomon Adodo, said when it raised alarm in 2014 that such massive fraud was ongoing in MDAs that AuGF should speak out, it was the AuGF himself that set security operatives after its officials for being a whistle blower.

It could be recalled that recently, the AuGF had through the 2014 Annual Audit Report alleged that a fraud running into N3.3 trillion had been uncovered at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the 2014 fiscal year, revealing that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) did not remit the sum of N3,234,577,666,791.35 into the federation account Allocation in 2014.
Adodo wondered why the same AuGF suddenly woke up and raised the alarm over the matter he had intimidated them, adding that his recent outcry was “a ploy to cover up for his ineptitude in office.

“It is on record that in 2014, when unemployed youth vanguard called the attention of the AuGF to the non – remittance of funds, misappropriation and looting of Federal Allocation and Revenues and urging the AGF to act on the matter, he rather resorted to antics of intimidation and bullying using his lofty office to influence the Nigeria Police Force against our National officials. Copies of such intimidating summons by the Nigeria Police and orchestrated by Mr. Samuel Ukura is here attached.
“We held that the AuGF through his complicit silence was responsible for the brazen looting and diversion of funds recorded in the immediate past administration. His present wolf – cry is nothing but an attempt to hide behind a finger and get a soft landing from the Buhari’s administration.
