Kebbi: My opponents are mischievous – Idris

Governor Nasiru Idris

Governor Nasir Idris is bitter that his opponents of Kebbi extraction have turned a blind eye to his monumental record of achievements, but were continuing to spread falsehood against his administration for political purposes.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi Friday, Comrade Idris, pointed out some specific projects finished and delivered as dividends of democracy to the people.

He said, “My administration has transformed Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, into a standard modern cosmopolitan centre pari passu with its peers.

“Since assumption of power, I’ve maintained the payment of salaries, gratuity, pensions and other emoluments promptly, with or without federation allocation. On the advent of the administration, I met an embargo on employment which I lifted.

“This led to the employment of more than 5, 000 workers within the two years in office involving teachers, nurses, as well as absorbed over 2, 000 casual workers into permanent appointment, unprecedented in the whole Northern Nigeria.”

The governor berated his political opponents for spreading falsehood, insinuations and innuendos about so-called non-performance of the government to gain cheap political recognition.

“Look at the infrastructural projects executed, especially construction of roads, educational facilities, Healthcare, provision of water and electricity.

“My administration is the pioneer authority in Kebbi to construct a six-lane carriageway, provide free education, free fertilisers and other agricultural inputs. As long as I am the sitting Chief Executive, these items would continue to be distributed free to our farmers.”
