Speaker of the Kogi state House of Assembly, MomohJimoh Lawal, has described his victory at the Appeal Court as “an act of God.”
Lawal, who stated this, while reacting to the judgement at the weekend in Lokoja, commended the judiciary for upholding fairness and justice.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Felix Udebu, he said the judgement would further energise Lawal to continue with his development plan for his constituency.

The speaker, who used the opportunity to urge his opponent to close ranks with him for the good of their constituency in particular and Kogi in general, thanked his constituents for their support and loyalty, promising that they would continue to be the focal point of his legislative duties.
Meanwhile, the Coalition for Political Progress and Development in Kogi state has described the purported impeachment of the Speaker as “baseless, selfish, clandestine and unacceptable.”

This was contained in a statement signed by its Director, Media and Publicity, Comrade Tashilani Maximilian.
He said the attempt to remove Lawal was against the interest of all peace-loving and law-abiding people of Kogi, adding that “it is with regrets that the few members of the House involved in the so-called removal acted out of ignorance and borne out of inexperience.”
It, however, called on Lawal not to relent in his efforts at discharging his responsibility as the speaker.
