The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mamman Vatsa Foundation (MVF), Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Monday said over 10,000 vulnerable groups were empowered across the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since the establishment of the foundation in 2010.
Speaking with newsmen during her visit to the National Hospital, Abuja weekend where she donated baby items, including post-natal, clothes, wrappers and undisclosed cash to Mrs. Ayuba John who delivered sextuplets at the hospital, she said apart from empowering women including windows of the deceased military officers who died in active service in Borno and Yobe states, the organisation also donated sewing/grinding machines, hair dressing machines as well as cash to some of them to engage on any petty trading of their choice.
According to her, she decided to established the foundation in memory of her late husband, General Mamman Vatsa.
She added that the foundation has also empowered the para-military and other agencies in the society to reduce hunger and promote development and unity in the country.
She said the foundation has been able to visit many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) especially in far north of Borno and Yobe states where it donated food stuffs and cash to both women and men that were displaced by Boko-haram.
She further said the foundation last week paid scholarships for 65 indigents students of the University of Abuja, studying various courses at the institution.
