Mu’azu calls for closer ties with Cuba government

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, said regardless of the fact that Nigeria is not a socialist party, there was need for relationship between Cuba and Nigeria, especially at party level.

Mu’azu, who stated this when he hosted the Cuban Minister of Foreign affairs, Mr. Bruno Parrilla, in Abuja, called on both countries to explore areas of commonality for the benefit of the two countries.

He lauded Cuba for having an ideology-based democracy, stressing that Nigeria is a young democracy and is striving to deepen its internal democracy.
He appealed to Cuba to look at areas that Nigeria can benefit even as he called for increased scholarship to students of Nigeria extraction to enhance more visit to Cuba by Nigerians.

Earlier, the Cuban Minister of Foreign affairs, Mr. Parrilla, said he was on a tour of African countries, as part of Cuban foreign policy.
He said he was in the country to relate with the Nigerian government to enhance bi-lateral relationship, adding that based on communal challenges, Cuba shall maintain bilateral relationship with the country.

Parrilla commended Nigeria on the non-permanent seat at the security council of the United Nations, even as he hailed Nigeria on the national confab. He however congratulated Mu’azu on his emergence as chairman of the PDP.
