Monetary inducement can’t make us work against Benue interest-UBA

Speaker of the Benue state House of Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba yesterday said no amount of money will make members of the legislative house, especially the twenty two members, popularly known as G-22 work against the interest of the state. Uba also said the House under his leadership is ready to lift suspension of the factional eight members if they showed remorse, retracted their negative comments and indicate interest to work for the development of the state. The Speaker made this known in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi and noted that as elected representatives of the people, it was only good that they work in unison and in line with aspirations of the people who voted them into office. He said he was surprised that PDP which was a minority in the assembly suddenly became majority but still gave him the position while he was in the APC. According to him, what was happening in the state, especially the state Assembly was a struggle on how to save the soul of Benue and not necessarily a politically motivated act. “This kind of thing to the best of my knowledge never happened in this country, where the Speaker will be impeached and the majority will still give the position of speaker to the minority. “This has now clearly shown that power in this state has become a struggle. We are not looking at acronyms, we are not looking at sentiments, we are looking at how we can come together and save the soul of Benue state. “We are working together in unity irrespective of political affiliations for interest of the state. “The 22 members on my side are intact, and nothing on this earth is going to shake us. On moves to reconcile members Uba said, the other members were still members of the assembly and would be welcome if they showed remorse and retract all the negative things they said against the assembly leadership
