Minister pledges open policy for environmental sustainability

The newly inaugurated  minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam, has pledged to transform the Nigerian environment for good in line with President Goodluck Jonathan Transformation Agenda, maintaining that Erosion desertification, air pollution and other Environmental hazards will be reduced to the barest minimum.

The minister who made the promise while briefing the press and  management staff briefly after assuming office in Abuja, said her ultimate goal is to ensure that Nigerians enjoy a decent environment free from man- made hazards, while mitigating environmental consequences arising from natural disasters to the barest minimum.

Vehemently,  Mrs Mallam stated that she believes in team work, assuring that she will carry along all stakeholders including management and staff in the discharge of her duties to ensure the attainment of the ministry’s objective.

She thanked the President for finding her worthy of a Ministerial appointment, promising that she will justify the confidence reposed in her.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Taiye Haruna, informed the minister that the environment family will render its unqualified support to ensure that the Ministers’ tenure is a huge success.
