The Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) has established a unit at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), in Niger state, where it hopes to attract larger membership drawn from staff for the institute.
At IBBUL’s Senate building, chairman, Minna chapter of NIM, Dr. Chris Igwe, who led a special delegation to the school, said their visit was to create awareness on the need to establish a NIM unit at the university.
He appreciated IBBUL’s management for the opportunity given the team to visit the university, disclosing that several NIM chapters would be created at various Niger state’s tertiary institutions.
Dr. Igwe said as soon as executive officials are inaugurated for the university’s NIM chapter, an orientation programme would be organised to sensitise staff on the need to register as a member.
The chairman who formally declared the NIM chapter of IBBUL assured that its excos would be appointed in due course. He prayed for stronger engagements for the newly-established unit.
In a remark, the vice chancellor of the institute, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, encouraged both teaching and non-teaching staff of the university to register as members of NIM in order to build a stronger and formidable unit.
Professor Maiturare observed that being one of the oldest institutes in Nigeria, NIM was lagging behind in terms of membership population, pointing out that a special event should be organised to expound the importance of the institue to staff. He thanked the NIM delegation for finding time to pay the courtesy visit.
