Manchester United have confirmed the signing of highly-rated Paraguayan defender Diego León from Cerro Porteño.

The Premier League giants announced the deal on Saturday, stating that the 18-year-old full-back will join the club subject to registration.

“Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of exciting young defender Diego León, subject to registration,” the club said in an official statement.

León, a Paraguay youth international, joins from Cerro Porteño, where he made 33 senior appearances and scored four goals. The left-footed full-back, who turned 18 in April, is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in South American football.

He made his senior debut on August 2, 2024, scoring the winning goal in a 1–0 victory over Sportivo Ameliano. His performances have since attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

León joined Cerro Porteño’s academy at the under-14 level and progressed through the ranks before breaking into the first team. United said the teenager will be supported by both the first team and Academy staff as he adjusts to life in Manchester.
