Tragedy struck Sunday as the popular Akinjagunla area of Ondo in Ondo West local government area of the state was thrown into confusion, following the death of a middle – age man said to have slumped and died after reportedly involved in sex romp with a woman friend at a popular hotel in the town.
It was gathered that the deceased, a civil servant, died in one of the hotel rooms where he had lodged with his female partner.
Although the identity of the woman was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, sources said that the woman is a wife of a popular landlord in one of the streets in the area.
A source said, “What I can say is that the man died in the hotel room after having sex with the woman said to be his woman friend laced with thunderbolt.
“The woman raised the alarm after realizing that the man collapsed and the manager of the hotel, together with some residents of the area, rushed to the scene and made frantic efforts to rescue the man but he was later confirmed dead.”
The management of the hotel, it was gathered, reported the incident to the Yaba Divisional Police station in the town and police officers stormed the hotel, after which they evacuated the body of the deceased to the state specialist hospital, Ondo.
When our correspondent visited the area, residents of the street were seen standing in groups discussing the development in harsh voices.
Similarly, officials of the anti-crime unit of the state police command attached to the station were seen evacuating the body of the deceased to the morgue.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Yaba Police Division, Mr Moses Adeduro, was said to have gone out for an official engagement in the town.
But a senior police officer in the station who did not want his name mentioned confirmed the incident, disclosing that the woman friend of the deceased and the manager of the hotel had been invited for interrogation.
He hinted that full investigations on the matter had commenced to unravel the circumstances leading to the death of the man.
The police officer informed that the woman who had sex with the deceased had been arrested by the police for further investigation.
