A 25-year-old man, Ismaila Wahab, has been sentenced to one year in jail for stealing a purse containing items worth N266, 200.
The prosecutor, Akintunde Jacob, told the court that the convict committed the crime on July 14, 2025 at about 11:30hrs at Omo West Area, Osogbo, where he stole one black purse containing Redmi android phone; one small itel phone; N1, 200 cash with Opay and First Bank ATM card valued at N266,200.00 belonging to one Olatoye Morufat.
The charges read: “That you Ismaila Wahab, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did conducted yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by entering into the shop belonging to one Olatoye Morufat ‘F’ and thereby committed an offence.”
The offences, according to the charge sheet, contravened the provisions of sections 390 and 249(D) of criminal code cap 34 vol. II laws of Osun state of Nigeria 2002.
The convict pleaded not guilty and opted to defend himself.

The matter was given accelerated hearing and the prosecutor tendered statement of the convict, statement of the complainant and called one witness.
Magistrate Muibah Olatunji convicted Wahab and sentenced him to one year on count one and six months on count two.
