Former Supervisory Councillor for finance, budget and investment in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, has described the defection of the incumbent AMAC Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, as a game changer for the party.
In a statement on Friday, Oluohu said the defection has sent shockwaves of excitement throughout the political landscape, adding that the event, which drew a massive crowd, was a testament to Maikalangu’s popularity and influence.
He noted that the turnout was unprecedented, with thousands of supporters and well-wishers in attendance.
The crowd, according to him, was so large that it could be likened to a presidential or governorship rally.
Oluohu informed that he saw many of those who had vowed not to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that wore Maikalangu’s branded T-shirts and caps as a show of solidarity and enthusiasm in the arena.
The former AMAC official, who described Maikalangu’s defection as a significant blow to the opposition in AMAC, advised aspirants that have already thrown in the towel to take a lesson from the event
He reasoned that Maikalangu’s popularity and influence are undeniable and his ability to mobilize support is a winning formula for the APC.
“What Maikalangu has done is a winning formula and a joker for APC. With his coming now, there is no opposition in AMAC any more.
“For the few aspirants that are pretending that they are still contesting, with what they have seen now, I believe that those ones that are threatening to contest against Maikalangu, my advice for them is that they don’t threaten an old woman with the big manhood, because you don’t know what contributed to her getting old on time.
“Maikalangu is a vehicle that can take us to the Promised Land. They should patiently wait till after four years, that is after his second tenure, to contest,” he said.
The former Supervisory Councillor urged Maikalangu to carry everybody along, including those in his former party and those who have joined him in the APC by balancing both sides, so as to ensure progress and development for all indigenes and residents of AMAC.
Oluohu, who called on the party leadership to offer the AMAC chairman automatic ticket, appreciated all the party leaders, particularly, the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, members of his National Working Committee, Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo and stakeholders for their presence.
