LP passes confidence vote on Usman-led NWC

At a virtual expanded meeting of key stakeholders of the Labour Party, the leadership has passed a vote of confidence on the Nenadi Usman-led Interim National Working Committee (NWC).

A statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser on media to the Interim National Chairman, Ken Asogwa, said their meeting resolved to deepen and strengthen it’s commitment to democratic institutions and sustain the tenets of democracy in Nigeria.

The statement read, “The meeting unanimously commended the interim leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman and passed a resounding vote of confidence in her stewardship as Interim National Chairman.

“In light of recent developments within the political landscape – particularly as they concern the Labour Party – the meeting resolved to deepen its commitment to initiatives that strengthen democratic institutions and sustain the tenets of democracy in Nigeria.

“The meeting was well-attended by both the leadership and critical stakeholders of the party, including the 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti; Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman; Interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha; and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos state in 2023.”

Others were Mohammed Usman Misau, Deputy National Chairman; Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, Deputy National Chairman; Deputy Governor of Abia state, HE Ikechukwu Emetu; Senator Victor Umeh; Senator Okey Ezea; Mrs. Maria Labeke, former acting national chairman Labour Party.

Also in attendance were Rotimi Odunaike, Interim Chairman Labour Party, Lagos state; former president of the NBA, Mr. Olumide Akpata; BOT member, PA Lawson Osagie; representatives of the NLC and TUC; and several other critical stakeholders of the party.
