Renowned media entrepreneur and politician, Dele Momodu, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s takeover by “antidemocratic forces.”

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu described the current state of the PDP as a “carcass,” asserting that the party has been hijacked both internally and externally in broad daylight.

“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,” the letter read. “It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Momodu also expressed gratitude to the ward chairman for his unwavering support during his time in the PDP.

The decision is coming days after the resignation of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Also, the resignation marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape as more prominent figures begin to align with emerging opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
