LG polls in Kano irreversible – State assembly

court judgement

Following the disqualification of the Chairman Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi, by a Federal High Court in Kano on Tuesday, the State House of Assembly has vowed to conduct the election as earlier planned.

The House Majority Leader, Lawan Hussaini Daka who made this known, said the decision was based on the earlier verdict of a State High Court which prohibited 19 political parties from challenging the conduct of the election by the commission.

According to the legislators, the commission was complying with the Supreme Court verdict which compelled states governments to conduct the local government election within the stipulated period.

He called on supporters of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to brace up to the  challenge of safeguarding their votes in all the 44 local government areas of the state for an all inclusive polls to be achieved.
