Delta state Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, yesterday said many legal practitioners do not treat one another with respect, fairness, consideration and dignity.
Justice Umukoro stated this on the occasion of the special court session in honour of the late Chief Willie Ezeanwu at the High Court, Asaba, Delta state.
He s aid the Bar and Bench would not accord any legal practitioner who had been found wanting in character, learning and had become a bundle of ridicule and odious spectacle a special court session.
He said: “To be a successful legal practitioner certain attributes are more than necessary. One must have the capacity for very hard work and integrity; the public must perceive you as honest and reliable.
“The best tradition of the Bar and Bench, a valedictory court session in honour of a departed colleague is not mechanical, it is a product of several years of diligence.
“Late Chief Ezeanwu was a gentleman to the core. He conducted several civil and criminal cases before me. He lost some. He won some. Even though he lost some, he did not in any way behave to throw unwarranted petitions, frivolous and unfounded rumours and idle talks about me.”
