Late Justice Nweze was a dependable ally, pillar of support – Supreme Court 

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has described the death of its late brother, Hon. Justice Chima Centus Nweze as sudden, saying he gave a sterling account of himself in the discharge of his official duties at the Supreme Court. 

In a statement, the apex court described the late Nweze as a dependable ally, a pillar of support with pliable legal personality that had diligently sunk a pool of enduring legal knowledge and experience in all his judicial pronouncements.

The statement by the director of Press and Information,

Supreme Court of Nigeria, Dr. Akande Festus, said the late Judge died on Saturday, 29th July, 2023, after a brief illness. 

It reads in part:  “We announce the death of our amiable brother and colleague, Hon. Justice Chima Centus Nweze, JSC, who died after a brief illness.

“Until his death, Justice Nweze who was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench on 29 October, 2014, was in the bench and served until his death.

“Nweze gave a sterling account of himself in the discharge of his official duties at the Supreme Court. 

“He had largely made himself a pliable legal personality that had diligently sunk a pool of enduring legal knowledge and experience in all his judicial pronouncements.

“He had been a formidable ally of his brother Justices, an admirable pillar of support to the staff and management of the Supreme Court; and indeed, a dependable father-figure to all.”
