Lagos police nab 68 criminals, recover N75m Lexus, 17 firearms

The Lagos state Police command Tuesday announced the arrest of 68 criminals and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and stolen vehicles, including a N75 million Lexus Jeep, during its recent operations in Lagos.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, the  Commissioner of  Police, CP  Olohundare Jimoh, attributed the successes to coordinated operations, new strategies, and robust support from the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos state governor.

The CP also praised public-spirited individuals for their timely information.

CP Jimoh said the arrested suspects are being held for various crimes, including murder, armed robbery, and advanced fee fraud.

“The police showcased several key recoveries, including 17 different types of firearms, including English pistols and a high-powered assault rifle. The command also recovered four vehicles used by criminals, six laptops, and other items.

“Among the specific cases highlighted is car robbery. On July 12, 2025, operatives arrested Biliaminu, 26, an ex-convict, for armed robbery after he allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry from its owner. The vehicle was promptly intercepted and recovered.

He further stated that the stolen luxury car and  car detectives intercepted a 2021 model Lexus Jeep Hybrid, valued at over N75 million, which had been stolen from outside the country and brought into Lagos for sale while the suspect, who could not provide registration or import documents, has been arrested.

The command also announced the arrest of a notorious “one chance” syndicate operating with a Suzuki Minibus. The gang, which includes a female member to deceive victims, was apprehended after attacking and robbing a businesswoman of hundreds of thousands of naira.
