Lagos: Opolo women join Global Corps for Clean the Gutters campaign

Opolo ati Ewa Women Empowerment Initiative, Thursday, announced its participation with the Global Climate Defence Corps to clean gutters in a bid to prevent flooding.

The event, themed: “Clean the Gutters, Keeping the Floods Away,” is scheduled for Saturday, 12th October, 2024, with participants gathering at Isheri Roundabout, Idimu-Ikotun Road.

The walk is being organizsed to raise awareness about the pressing impact of climate change in the environment, particularly the contribution of human activities to flooding and environmental degradation. The initiative aims to educate the public about the importance of keeping surroundings clean and taking collective action to protect against floods, an increasingly dangerous consequence of global climate shifts.

Opolo ati Ewa Women Empowerment Initiative, founded in December 2019 by Chief Adenike Olumide-Emmanuel, is committed to uplifting women through both business and emotional empowerment.

Through initiatives like this walk, the organisation also shows its dedication to advocating for environmental sustainability and community well-being.

The NGO’s mission is to serve as a springboard for women entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills, resources, and emotional support they need to thrive in the marketplace. With a core mission of building the total woman, the organization empowers women to begin, build, sustain, and scale their businesses.
