Lagos: CP parades 37 suspects, recovers ammunition

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke, Wednesday, paraded 37 suspected criminals, engaged in varying , including armed robbery, stealing, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms among others.

The suspects were paraded at the police headquarters in Ikeja area of the state.

The CP said, “It is with great sense of professional fulfilment I stand before you today to present to you our achievements in Lagos State Command since my assumption of duty approximately a month ago before you today.

“We have a total of Thirty-Seven suspects who have engaged in varying crimes including armed robbery, stealing, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms.

“From all these cases which we successfully cracked and recovered a total of sixteen firearms including a toy pistol, seventy-two live cartridges, Seventy-five live ammunition, one expended cartridge, one pistol magazine, six axes, four daggers, five cutlasses, two  vehicles, one POS machine, fake vehicle registration plates and various charms.”

The CP explained that “on January 11, 2024, about 2130hrs, operatives of the Command arrested one Idowu Yunusa, 25, who was seen attacking with intent to rob a passerby around Igando. A locally made shot gun was recovered from him while also on January 11, 2024, at about 1530hrs, operatives of the Command arrested one Damilola Ontinride, 36, who was seen loitering around Mile 12 area.”

He said one locally fabricated berretta pistol with one live ammunition was recovered from him, explaining: “He is suspected to be a member of an armed robbery gang.”
