The Kwara state Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, Wednesday warned that there is no grievance that justifies the burning of public assets and obstruction of justice.
He said last Monday’s violent protest and the attack on the NDLEA office by angry mob in Lafiagi, headquarters of Edu local government area of Kwara state, represents a dangerous trend that must be swiftly addressed.
A statement by the police spokesman, SP Adetoun Ejire- Adeyemi ,said the CP spoke during his visit to the palace of the emir in the aftermath of the violent attack in companying of other security commanders.
CP Ojo strongly condemned the attacks and acts of vandalism, saying that the command would go after the perpetrators.
“While we acknowledge recent security incidents, today’s violent protest and the attack on the NDLEA office represent a dangerous trend that must be swiftly addressed. No grievance justifies burning public assets or obstructing justice. We are deploying all tactical and intelligence resources to restore normalcy and apprehend all those involved,” he said.
He further urged the Lafiagi emirate council and local government to intensify efforts in youth engagement, strengthen community policing structures and promote dialogue.
The CP also appreciated the support of the state governor , Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for providing critical logistic vehicles and motorcycles to enhance field operations in rural and vulnerable communities.
