The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of Oyo state, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Monday, declared that the former governor of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande lied against him on the death of late Chief Bola Ige.

Oba Ladoja also asked Chief Akande to withdraw his statement and tender a public apology or legal action will be taken against him over his claim.

Oba Ladoja was reacting to Chief Akande’s statement that Oba Ladoja, while serving as  Oyo state governor, withdrew the case on the death of the former Attorney General and Minister for Justice of the Federation, Chief Bola Ige.

The Otun Olubadan stated that he didn’t have any information regarding Ige’s death aside from what other people knew about the assassination case and that  he did nothing to harm the course of justice.

“Chief Bola Ige was assassinated December 23, 2001, I got to government on 29th of May, 2003 which was 18 months after the assassination of Chief Ige.

“I didn’t withdraw the case, my government didn’t withdraw any case. The case was prosecuted to the apex court.

“Chief Akande lied against me, this is not his first time. People say he lied, someone like Baba Adebanjo even said he lied in his book. We are not all happy as a result of Chief Ige’s death, and we are all concerned about his death. I was very close to Chief Ige while alive.”

Oba Ladoja pointed out that he, as the governor of Oyo state, as at the time, gave all necessary support to the prosecution of the case even up to the apex court
