Kuje council presents instructional materials to LEA

Kuje area council has presented books and other educational materials to the Local Education Authority (LEA) for onward distribution to both public and private schools in Kuje.
Presenting the items on behalf of the chairman, the vice-chairman, Hon. Baba Danjuma Mohammed, reiterated that the present administration had made education its number one priority as it was important to the future of the children and nation at large.

Mohammed said the materials would be distributed for free and that any school caught selling them would be sanctioned.
Reprehensive of the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) FCT, Assistant Director of Sport and Health, Aboki Baba, commended the area council, saying that the gesture was a laudable one and would go a long way in cushioning parents effect of purchasing books for their children.
He also warned schools who denied pupils of attending class due to inability to pay school fees or buy text books to desist from it as every child was entitled to basic education.

In his welcome address, the Head of Department Education and Social development, AbmiloYaro, said the need for basic education “cannot be over-emphasised as it is the bedrock for development of any nation.”
He said about 150, 000 books and dossier were produced for the benefit of schools in Kuje.
LEA Secretary, Sunday Kaka, also commended the area council for its zeal toward actualising the dreams of Kuje children, stating that the secretariat would ensure the even distribution of the materials.
