The new Commissioner of Police in Plateau state, Nasiru Oki, has vowed to consolidate on his predecessor’s efforts in restoring permanent peace in the state.
Oki said the command had remained committed to tackle crimes and criminality in the state to the barest minimum.
He stated this on Tuesday at a news briefing as part of efforts to consolidate on his predecessor’s peace process.
The police boss said the command and other security agencies were determined to get peace return on the Plateau, stressing that the command had mapped out strategies of ensuring an effective policing in the state.
He appealed to the state government, the public and the media to cooperate with the command by providing useful information to enable it to achieve its goals.
The CP expressed worry over the constant clashes between farmers and Fulani herders in the state, stressing that it was the desire of the command to dialogue with them with a view to tackling the clashes tenaciously.
He said the window of his office was wide open for any kind of information.
Responding, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ, Mr Katdabpa Gobum, said the media was ready to partner with the police to be able to discharge their work in line with the ethics of the profession.
