As part of effort to ensure availability of petroleum product during the yuletide season , the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR ) has sealed two filling stations for under dispensation and closed one gas station for operating without license in Lokoja, Kogi state.
The operation controller in charge of Kogi state DPR, Amos Jokodola, who led a surveillance team for the exercise in Lokoja, Monday , said the two erring filling stations, Emmalis and ‘Always’ located at Lokoja – Okene road were sealed for cheating the general public through under dispensing while Moca gas was sealed for operating without license.
He warned petroleum dealers in the state to desist from under dispensing of Petroleum products.
“We are preparing for the Christmas and new year. DPR will not be on holiday throughout this yelutide season , we will monitor the distribution and the selling of petrol, kerosine and gas to customers during and after the festive period,” he said.
Jokodola advised petroleum product consumers not to indulge in panic buying , assuring that there is enough petrol, kerosine and gas that can last till February 2020, adding that there are over four million litres of petrol that can cover the entire 21 local government areas of the state.
“We also have over 140 metric tonnes of gas for domestic and industrial consumption. There is over one million litres of diesel that will also last up till end of February 2020.
“We will work day and night to ensure that the marketers operate according to the lay down rules and regulations,” he said.
While expressing satisfaction over the quality of petroleum products sold to consumers , the DPR operation controller said the surveillance exercise will last till end of February 2020.
He cautioned dealers who are in the habit of under dispensing and hoarding to desist or face sealing of their station and stiff sanction.
