Kidnappers of Emure-Ekiti school pupils demand N100m ransom

The abductors of Emure-Ekiti Primary School pupils, EWkiti state, have demanded for N100 million ransom.

The kidnappers, who  took away six school children, three teachers and a driver of the Apostolic Faith Church, Emure-Ekiti, were said to have demanded the sum of N10 million on each of their victims numbering 10 as ransom.

The six pupils of a private school in Emure-Ekiti, three teachers and the bus driver were abducted while returning to Eporo- Ekiti, Monday evening. 

A family source at Eporo Ekiti, who spoke under anonymity on Tuesday said 

the kidnappers had reached out to the family. 

“They called the family of one of the school children and they are requesting for N10 million per victim.

“What we gathered is that there are 10 persons kidnapped – six school children, three teachers and a driver.

“The parents are at Eporo. The bus was returning them home after closing. It was in the process that the kidnappers struck,” the source stated.

Meanwhile, the Aremo of Emure kingdom, Chief Clement Ogunyemi Akinola, in company of the local government chairman, Commissioner for Agriculture and other government officials have visited the parents of the kidnapped persons at Eporo.

According to Aremo, “The parents are appealing to the state government to assist in the release of their children.

“They are little children, there is a nine-year-old among them; one can therefore imagine the condition the children will be in, one can imagine the state of mind of the parents and the entire Emure community, the Eporo people. There is tension, very high tension.”
